Services FAQ

There are only unconventional or alternativer therapies but there are no reliable alternative tests to replace the conventional monitoring of your disease via bloodwork (eg cancer markers) and/or scans etc.  Even if you choose to do no treatments at all or diet only, you should be monitored exactly the same way !

Many of our patients are from out-of-state and out of the country, and although we prefer to see you in person at least for an initial consultation, but if you cannot come in, we could review your case and then have a ZOOM meeting online. Follow-ups can also be virtual and we are able to prescribe most oral medications  that way.  The only thing we cannot do online would be treatments that require injections, hyperthermia and acupuncture.
Yes, and we frequently order test such as cancer markers, viral titers, hormone levels, vitamin levels that conventional doctors may not utilize. For such testing we use Quest as well as Labcorp laboratories or any lab of your choice in any State,. and labs can be covered as long as the particular lab accepts your insurance. Also,  you can have your blood drawn by us, by your own doctors or at the laboratory’s drawing stations.
We are familiar with the conventional chemo or radiation regimens and generally advise patients to continue their treatment with their primary oncologists, and we will not use supplements that will affect the chemotherapy or radiation.
Of course ! We believe that it is ultimately the patient’s choice as to what treatments he/she would like to pursue. Although we are “alternative”, we will stand by what is scientifically the best evidence of what works for your condition and what doesn’t, and advise you accordingly.  And in case you have strong feelings about what you do or do not want, you should still consult with us so we can review your options with you and give you the pros and cons to help you make the most sensible decisions.

Of course !  Diet plays a key role is most serious health conditions. We can provide as little or as much detail as you need reqarding the optimal diet for your specific condition, and will provide specific guidelines as to which food groups to avoid and how much and what to consume for your  condition, but we generally will not go to the extent of providing a daily menu for you to follow – for that we believe it would be best of you to engage a dietitian or nutritionist, and we can refer such a professional to you and we can work with a dietitian that you are using.

We believe in sourcing the best treatment available regardless of where the treatment is available and there are certainly useful remedies that are simply not readily available in the United States, such as carbon beam treatment (Japan), dendritic cells or regenerative stem cells (Germany), etc. We have even referred patients internationally for special surgical techniques (e.g. pulmonary laser metastectomy) or clinical trials should there be a lack of expertise in the US.  But in general, we can offer most therapies found in international clinics.

This of course depends on a patient’s condition and whether we are acting as consultants or being primarily resposible for the case.  We generally say to the patient that they may feel free to use us as much or as little as they feel the need, and we certainly do not need to see patients any more than they necessary. But as a general guide, stable patients see us every 3-4 months or so, but those who have active disease may need to see us more frequently. especially in the beginning when we draw up an overall treatment plan for the patient.

When there is a formal referral or upon patient’s request, we will send a full consultation note with our impressions of the problems as well as our recommendations to the treating doctor.

Certainly !  You may call the office after you have seen us if a question pertains to side-effects of what we prescribed for you, or for any adminsitrative issues such as to arrange follow-up or refills etc (and there will be no charges). If you thought of more questions or have new issues, if your disease has evolved, you have reached a decision-making point and need guidance, or you want to learn about a new treatment option you learned about, you should make an appointment as these are professional consultations. If you cannot come in personally, you can make an appointment or register for email or ZOOM and phone services and follow-up that way. Such follow-ups will be billed on a time/effort basis and at the same professional rate as in-office visits.

We will not suggest anything that you cannot procure !  We will definitely provide brand recommendations and suggest sources of supply although we usually have everything we recommend in stock at the clinic or via Meridian Solutions online for your convenience. Do note that some of our recommended items may be proprietary (e.g. Chinese or Tibetan herbs etc) and not readily available via outside sources, however for widely available items, Meridian Solutions generally guarantees pricing to be no higher (frequently much lower) that Amazon and other online retailers. Please note that Meridian Solutions and the office offer unlimited customer support if there are side-effects or on how to take / use items we dispense, but we cannot guarantee support or be responsible for products you source yourself.
